The Wharton gym
A NEW LABYRINTH GYM FOR WHARTON
Labyrinth BJJ Wharton is a jiu-jitsu and kickboxing gym in Wharton, Texas, part of the Labyrinth family of gyms. It is led by Joe Herrera, a brown belt under Prof. Anthony Curry, who founded Labyrinth in 2021.
Brazilian jiu-jitsu is a grappling art built on leverage, position and control, with no striking in it. Kickboxing is the striking side: punches and kicks. Jiu-jitsu is a practical way to get fit, to learn real self-defense, and to be part of a room full of people who are working on the same hard thing.
Classes are on the schedule and your first one is free. Tap any class to book it, or call us on (281) 393-7983.

Why Labyrinth
THE LABYRINTH WAY
Wharton is new. The Labyrinth name behind it is not.
These are the results of the Labyrinth BJJ team as reported by jits.gg as of September 24, 2026. They are the whole team's record. Labyrinth BJJ Wharton is new, and none of these numbers are Wharton's.
Lineage
A lineage you can check
Joe trains under Prof. Anthony Curry, a black belt under Matt Leighton of Citadel BJJ. In jiu-jitsu a belt is awarded by a person, so who stands behind the rank matters.
Beginners
Built for people who are new
You do not need to be in shape, flexible or athletic. Most people who start jiu-jitsu have never done a combat sport, and that is who a first class is for.
Your pace
Competition is your choice
Labyrinth has a strong competition record, and competing is always optional. Plenty of students train for fitness, self-defense and community and never enter a tournament.
